Turkey Time

It seems like our turkey barns have been in the works forever. So, as supreme ruler of the operation, I am pleased to announce that construction is nearing completion.

Aren't they beautiful?

I asked everyone what they thought about the turkey barns. Here are their responses:

Ryan - "I think they should have been up three years ago."

Caden - "I don't know."

Ali - "I want to name all the turkeys!"

Chloe - "Good!"

Bode - "Can we name one Caden?"

How indicative of their attitudes. As for my thoughts, I am in agreement with Ryan. Bring on the turkeys!

Last Day of School

Ready or not, summer vacation has begun! The oldest 3 had their last day of school today. Bode's was yesterday. The rain is kind of a bummer. Luckily we have legos, Pringles, and television.

Chloe has this whole "time off" thing figured out.

It was COLD yesterday! We had to break out the winter coat!

He definitely begged me to let him wear 5 stocking hats. Not happenin. Sorry, bud.

Couldn't pry a smile out of the preteen. Sigh.
I am not accepting of his preteen disposition. So, I shall launch a little blast from the past counter-attack.

I will forever maintain that he is cute, childish, and excitable. Take that, puberty.

The Resurgence

Wow. I will not state the obvious, which is the lengthy amount of time that has passed since my last post. However, please note the catchy title of this post.  That's right, I intend to update our goings on this summer. Hopefully I will keep it up after summer as well, but I need to give myself a trial period. Get it together, self. Also, note that resurgence is spelled correctly. I know because I looked it up. Thank you, dictionary.com.

First and foremost, lets bring you up to speed. The roster:

Caden - Full fledged pre-teen, but somehow maintaining mama's boy status. No baseball or spring soccer, as "basketball is a year round sport" - I swear I had no hand in this, regardless of the delight I take in it. Hobbies also include growing out his hair and outgrowing his shoes. His best day ever would include playing outside with his friends, eating chicken wings, and listening to trendy pop music. Sigh.

Track and Field Day with his buddies. Caden is all the way to the left, and Ryan is photo-bombing.

Ali (AKA the Goose) - Equal parts sassy and sweet. She won't play softball because she does not want to get hit in the face. And, because I cannot promise her this will not happen, I am not making her play. Ali will not wear a dress, loves playing with the dog, and is missing two front teeth. She does very well in school, runs super fast, and is a whiz at jigsaw puzzles. Possible prodigy here. Her best day ever would include camping out in front of the television with her puzzles, arts and crafts, legos, and a bag of chips. I have no idea where she gets this from, as I am so driven I cannot sit still prefer to veg out with chocolate.

Chloe (AKA Coco) - Super Kindergardener! She loves school and having her own set of friends. My sunshine girl has a kind and gentle soul. She looks up to her big sister. Figuratively speaking only, as she is also very tall for her age. She would likely spend all day outside if she could. Her perfect day would include non-stop eating, planting flowers, iPad time, and collecting rocks.

Bode - Four years old, but he will always be the baby. He had a huge learning year in preschool! You'd think we'd breed ginormous children, but he is kind of a peanut. His perfect day would include Mom, Dad, dance parties, corn dogs,  playing outside, and being generally ornery. Again, I don't know where he gets this from, as I only prefer to be obnoxious occasionally.

Ryan - Busy being "The Man." Ya know, takin' care of business, getting his hands dirty, makin' stuff happen, and that sort of thing. I am not sure, but I think his perfect day includes an elaborate, romantic date with me. Think Chris Soules, minus the weird sex therapy episode. And, minus making out with 20 different, beautiful women. He would definitely not want that.

Me - So, there is actually a good reason I haven't been blogging. Last weekend I earned my elementary education degree! It has been in the works for a while, and I am so glad to have it finished. I am so over coursework, and had GREAT experiences student teaching. Next year I'll teach third grade in a nearby district. Basically my life this summer will be an attempt at preparing my classroom while keeping the Kock kids happy. Oh, and blogging all about it - as promised. :)
